The Comar Oral Syringe is a two-piece dispenser that uses a patented wiper design instead of a rubber grommet to form a complete seal between the plunger and the barrel. With no small siliconized rubber parts in the tip, the risk of choking and project contamination is greatly reduced. Comar oral syringes are ideally suited for use in dispensing medication or applying topical applications.
In April 2016, FDA released its Guidance for Industry on “Safety Considerations for Product Design to Minimize Medication Errors.” The document refers to an estimated 7,000 deaths occurring each year as a result of medication errors. Medications now exceed household products, such as cleaning fluids, as the primary cause of pediatric poisoning. To develop preventive strategies, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) formed the PROTECT Initiative bringing healthcare professionals together with leading over-the-counter medication and packaging manufacturers. Comar, an original member of the PROTECT Initiative, developed the DoseGuard® system in response. Comar’s oral syringes combine with the new DoseGuard offer the maximum in liquid dispensing safety.
We manufacture stock and made-to-order Oral Syringes, Valved Bottle Adapter Systems, Oral Syringe Bottle Adapters (Orifice Reducers), and Oral Syringe Tip Caps and Stands.
Tested, approved, and used by major pharmaceutical companies, the Comar Oral Syringe has a unique wiper design that achieves quality standards that are unmatched in the industry.
Press-in bottle adapters allow for increased dosing accuracy when filling oral syringes. Available in various sizes, they fit securely in any bottle with a corresponding opening size. The adapters allow a user to easily draw liquid with an oral syringe, ensuring accurate dosing while avoiding spills; they fit flush with the bottle opening so that the original cap can be placed on the bottle.
Comar designed the DoseGuard® to improve on traditional bottle adapters that simply act as open-flow restrictors. Our design employs a passive valve to provide closed flow control thereby keeping liquid medications child-safe. The DoseGuard® has been recognized for its proven ability to protect children from an accidental overdose of liquid medications and is compatible with standard containers and oral syringes. The improved flexibility of DoseGuard® allows it to more easily integrate with packaging lines, and gives manufacturers of liquid over-the-counter and prescription medications an additional means to comply with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) PROTECT Initiative.
